Battle of Hastings (1066-10-14)

The Battle of Hastings was fought between the Norman-French army of William, the Duke of Normandy, and an English army under the Anglo-Saxon King Harold Godwinson. It began the Norman conquest of England. The Norman Conquest radically changed English culture, language (introducing French roots), and the feudal system. Harold was killed, and William was crowned King on Christmas Day.
