Cortes Enters Tenochtitlan

On November 8, 1519, Spanish Conquistador Hernán Cortés and his men marched into Tenochtitlán, the capital of the Aztec Empire. They were initially welcomed by Emperor Moctezuma II. This encounter marked the beginning of the Spanish conquest of the Aztec Empire. Within two years, Tenochtitlán fell, leading to the establishment of New Spain and the destruction of Aztec civilization.
