Plate Tectonics Theory Acceptance

By the late 1960s, the scientific community broadly accepted the theory of Plate Tectonics. This built upon Alfred Wegener's 1912 continental drift hypothesis, supported by new evidence of seafloor spreading.

It provided a unifying theory for geology, explaining the locations of volcanoes, earthquakes, mountain ranges, and the movement of continents over geological time.
