Event Details

On June 2, 2014, Telangana officially became the 29th state of India (now 28th after J&K reorganization). It was carved out of the northwestern region of Andhra Pradesh.

Context: The formation followed decades of agitation for a separate state, culminating in the passing of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014 by the Parliament. K. Chandrashekar Rao took oath as the first Chief Minister.
