Vietnam War Ends

On April 30, 1975, North Vietnamese tanks crashed through the gates of the Presidential Palace in Saigon, accepting the surrender of South Vietnam. The Fall of Saigon marked the end of the Vietnam War and the reunification of the country under Communist rule. The war claimed the lives of over 58,000 Americans and millions of Vietnamese, leaving a legacy of political division and changing U.S. foreign policy.
