Event Details

On November 26, 2008, 10 terrorists from the Pakistan-based group Lashkar-e-Taiba carried out a series of coordinated shooting and bombing attacks across Mumbai. The attacks lasted four days.

Targets: Key locations included the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, the Oberoi Trident, the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, Leopold Cafe, Cama Hospital, and the Nariman House Jewish community center.

Legacy: The attacks resulted in 175 deaths, including 9 attackers. The lone surviving terrorist, Ajmal Kasab, was captured and later executed. The event led to major overhauls in India's internal security apparatus, including the formation of the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
