Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo

On February 2, 1848, this treaty ended the Mexican-American War. Mexico ceded 55% of its territory to the U.S.

It fulfilled American Manifest Destiny, extending the U.S. to the Pacific, but reignited the slavery debate.
