Event Details

On February 18, 1946, a mutiny started on the ship HMIS Talwar in Bombay harbor and quickly spread throughout the Royal Indian Navy.

Cause: Sailors revolted against poor conditions and racial discrimination. The mutiny found support among the Indian public.
