Princess Diana Dies

On August 31, 1997, Diana, Princess of Wales, died after a car crash in the Pont de l'Alma tunnel in Paris. Her companion Dodi Fayed and driver Henri Paul were also killed. The tragedy caused an unprecedented outpouring of public grief worldwide and forced the British Royal Family to modernize its relationship with the public. Diana remains an icon of humanitarian work.
