First Baseball Hall of Fame Inductees

The first members of the National Baseball Hall of Fame were elected on January 29, 1936. The inaugural class included five legends: Ty Cobb, Babe Ruth, Honus Wagner, Christy Mathewson, and Walter Johnson.

Legacy: Known as the 'First Five,' these players set the standard for excellence in the sport. The Hall of Fame museum in Cooperstown, New York, would officially open three years later to honor their achievements.
